Producing hot water is by far the most efficient way of extracting the energy from the sunrays. Modern water based heat distribution systems are ideal for solar energy as there is no need for special adaptations.

Energy gain
Many people may have some experience of the harvesting of solar energy through the use of photovoltaic panels. These may have an efficiency rating of about 12% to 15%, whilst a solar collector will have an efficiency rating in the area of 80% – 90%. Practically this means that a solar collector would provide about 600W where a similar sized photovoltaic panel would only provide 100W.

Implementation
The Energy Balustrade™ can be integrated into the hot water system of dwellings, public buildings and offices in various ways. The system is most advantageous in buildings equipped with central heating but will still deliver substantial savings even if only applied to supply hot water for showers and other domestic use.

ER-120/17 – RESAS Energy Balustrade™
17-tube balustrade module incorporating vacuum tubes delivering 0.95m2 effective surface area.
The Energy Balustrade™ is multi functional. In addition to performing as a normal balustrade to a balcony or decking, it will produce energy in the form of hot water that can either be used in the household, or that can be connected to central heating systems.

In contrast to all other solar collectors on the market the solar collectors in the Energy Balustrade™ are fully integrated within the structure of the balustrade, thus creating a pleasing aesthetic appearance that blends in with any façade. Energy efficient and environmentally friendly buildings can now be created whilst maintaining a pleasant and agreeable exterior.

The heat generated by the solar collectors within the vacuum tubes is transferred to an insulated manifold contained within the hand rail of the Energy Balustrade™. This negates the use of undesirable and unsightly visible pipes and associated fittings.

The Energy Balustrade™ can be complemented with corner and end panel solutions that allow easy integration in any balcony or decking project. Special solutions and accessories to enhance your enjoyment of the system are also available.
